It will be used to integrate with, monitor, and/or control your project’s MEP systems’ equipment.

What is the second level or middle level in the BMS System?

We can divide the BMS system into three levels.

This second level, or the middle level, is mainly concerned with the automated management of functional processes in the BMS system.

The most important component of this level is the BMS panels. These panels can include many items, but modules are among the most important.

So, what is the module in the BMS system?

A module is a device that receives a signal from a controller and sends it to a field device. It can also receive a feedback signal from a field device and send it to the controller for analysis. Based on that, it will take action.

Also, we can call it an expansion module because it increases the number of I/O points the BMS panel’s controller can monitor and control.

What are the different types of modules in the BMS system?

We have three types of modules:

  1. Input modules, whether it’s Analog modules or digital modules.
  2. Output modules, whether it’s Analog modules or digital modules.
  3. Universal modules: we have three types.

    3.1. The first type is the Universal input module, which can deal with analog/digital inputs only. UI abbreviates this module.

    Then, beside it, the total number of inputs will be written.

    3.2. The second type is the universal output module, which can deal with analog/digital outputs only. UO abbreviates this module.

    Then, beside it, the total number of outputs will be written.

    3.3. The third type is a universal input-output module. This module can handle all types of signals, whether digital or analog, Input or output.

Each type of these modules has an abbreviation letter for its type, plus the number of points that can be connected to it.

A 16DI module means it can be connected to 16 points, and all of these points are digital inputs.

The 8UI module means it can be connected to 8 different points, with the variety of these points including digital input, analog input, or both.
